Student centered learning is also active learning rather than passive learning. Active learning comes from a constructivist view of learning in which the role of the teacher is a facilitator rather than a content presenter. Active learning is also supported by Bloom’s Taxonomy and Dale’s Cone of Learning, both of which believe that retention and learning result from higher order interaction with content (analysis, synthesis, evaluation, creation).
