Flipped and blended learning are two additional instructional approaches that promote greater active learning among students. Most teachers utilize some form of blended learning, whether students read texts online, utilize specific software to complete coursework-related activities, or utilize the internet for research. Blended learning provides a vehicle for differentiation and personalization of learning. The blend of traditional instruction and independent online learning is engaging to most students because of the variety of learning activities offered. Flipped learning also utilizes a variety of learning modes, but is very different for both the teacher and the student.
